Bowling Green Metalforming Chilled Water Plant Upgrade

Magna International, one of the world’s largest automotive suppliers, desired to upgrade their 28.5 acre plant, Bowling Green Metalforming, with a new Chilled Water Plant supplying an additional 24 Chilled Water RTU’s to help cool the plant to temperatures that would give them an advantage in the competitive Industrial job market of Bowling Green. Congruently, 2 other projects were conducted, one to upgrade all admin areas with new units and another to replace all existing controls with new. The plant was to remain operational throughout all work; Automated Building Concepts was able to work with all Magna staff and our contractor partners to pull over 20,000 feet of cable and install 188 controllers, with no disruption to plant operations and production.

Results

Central Plant Chilled Water System – The new plant allows for an additional 24 large RTUs to provide the necessary cooling to lower the plant temps for optimal production and employee retention.

21 new RTUs on the admin areas with Reliable controllers and front-end graphics.

Full controls replacement of existing 88 plant units, added to front-end graphics.
